Visitaion at the funeral home will be Sunday after 2 p.m. Elmer Emiel Nelson was born Sept. 15, 1892, at Thornton, the son of Carl and Kathrine (Floy) Nelson. He was educated in the Thornton schools after which he farmed and sold livestock. For many years he was manager of the Thornton baseball team. He was married to Lela Floy on Sept. 18, 1913 at Thornton. She preceded him in death in 1938. He was married to Reba Preston Bausch on June 7, 1941, in Missouri. They made their home in Clear Lake where he was a maintenance man at the Great Lakes Pipeline Co. Until his retirement in September 1957. He was a member of the IOOF Lodge No. 187.” (Mason City Globe Gazette, IA, Aug. 28, 1971, pg 14) He was survived by his wife, two daughters, one step-daughter, one step-son, five brothers, seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
