ELMER FORD Obituary Elmer Ford, Stanwood, Dies at Home Thursday Elmer Ford, the youngest son of John and Kathryn Ford, was born in Tipton, Iowa, March 28, 1879, and passed away at his home in Stanwood, Jan. 26, 1956, after a short illness, at the age of 76 years, 9 months and 26 days. Mr. Ford spent his boyhood days on a fram in the Red-Oak Grove community and attended the rural school of that township. He was united in marriage to Miss Bertha Grace Wertz, July 25, 1903, in Tipton. They then made their home in the Red-Oak and Stanwood communities. To this union two daughters were born, Mrs. Elnora Gottschalk, and another daughter who passed away in infancy. Mr. Ford was a very affectionate father and husband, his life was characterized by a neighborly spirit that made him always ready to extend a helping hand. He enjoyed his home very much and spent many of his leisure. He preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, three sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his wife,one daughter Mrs. Otto Gottschalk of Stanwood, and several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Jan. 29, at the Sheets & Dahn funeral home in Tipton with Rev. Louis Penningroth officiating, and interment in Stanwood cemetery. Information request from Chris Fingle: Elmer was the son of John Ford and Catherine Bair. John Ford's parents were Wiseman Ford and Malinda Richards. Elmer's parents, John and Catherine and Elmer's brother Elwood Ford ( I think they were twins maybe) are buried in Woodbridge Cemetery. John Ford's mother Malinda later married William Miller. Malinda Richards Ford Miller lived with her son in the 1850-1860-1870-1880 census in Cedar county. We cannot find where she is buried. We would like to find Malinda Richards Ford Miller's (ELMER"S GRANDMOTHER) burial place. 4/23/2010
