The grave in the Catholic cemetery of Elmer George Landon today bears an official marker of the Boy Scouts of America. The youth, who died on December 29, 1927, was a member of Troop one, and Memorial Day members of the troop placed the Scout marker on the grave. The Rev. P. Creel of St. Martin's Catholic church, and J. P. Walsh had charge of the ceremonies, which were attended by forty-six Scouts. The services at the grave were held during the services for the nation's heroes in Riverside cemetery. After participating in the Memorial Day parade and attending the services at the First Methodist Episcopal church, the Scouts proceeded to the cemetery where they placed the marker on the grave of their departed member.
