Mass of the Chrisian burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday Feb. 1, at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The Rev. Michael Wagner will be celebrant at the Mass. Landon, 73, of Carroll, died unexpectedly of an apparent cardiac arrest on Sunday, Jan. 29. Mass of the Chrisian burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday Feb. 1, at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The Rev. Michael Wagner will be celebrant at the Mass. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery. A military honor guard will be provided by Maurice Dunn American Legion Post 7. Lector at the Mass will be Shelly Olerich. Gift bearers will be Ann and Nicholas Renze. Casket bearers will be Steve and Michael Landon, Erik Anderson, Robert Korwes, Eric Renze, and Bill Davis. Honorary casket bearers will be Mathew Landon and Nicholas Renze. Visitation will begin at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Twit Funeral Home in Carroll. Rosary will be recited at 3 and 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Born Jan. 15, 1916 in Carroll, Mr. Landon was a son of Bert LeRoy and Mayme Josephine (Pfarrdrescher) Landon. He attended Huron (S.D.) High School. On Aug. 28, 1939, he was married to Ethel Mishler at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Carroll by the Rev. Arnold Ahlers. During World War II he served in the Army in the European Theater. He retired as a district crew foreman for Iowa Public Service. He was a member of the Maurice Dunn American Legion Post 7 and Holy Spirit Church. He was also a former member of the Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Landon is survived by his wife. Ethel, of Carroll; three daughters: Mary and her husband, Rollin Olerich of Carroll; Nancy and her husband Dean Anderson, of Pocahontas; and Roberta and her husband, Steve Hansen, of Iowa Falls; three sons: Randy Landon and his wife, Betsy, of Carroll; John Landon and his wife, Alice, of Naples, Fla.; and Tom Landon and his wife, Millie, of Charter Oak; 20 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and one sister. Viola Koogman of Hill City. S.D. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother. Elmer Landon.
