Description	:	Funeral services for Elmer H. Hockenbary were held Tuesday, February 27, at 2 p.m. at Lindsey Memorial Presbyterian Church with Rev. Robert Reynolds conducting. Hockenbary died Friday of a heart attack. Mrs. Frank Kocourek sang "The Lord is My Sheperd" and the congregation sang "O God Our Help in Ages Past." Organist was Mrs. Fred Cozad. Active pall bearers were Stanley Porch, Leslie Byrne, Gary Mattley, Rodney Hockenbary, Dale Kursave and James Hockenbary. Ziegler Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Elmer Herbert Hockenbary was born to Charles and Mary Hockenbary September 24 1887, at Aurora, Nebr. He died at his home in Martin at 6 p.m. February 23, 1973 at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 30 days. He married Emma Spath October 4, 1905 at Lincoln, Nebr. To this union 10 children were born. Emma died February 9, 1935. On October 29, 1946 he was united in marriage with May Bell Goslin. They made their home in Martin except for a few years that they lived in Pine Ridge. Hockenbary was a member of Lindsey Memorial Presbyterian church. Survivors include his wife, May Bell; two sons, Ralph of Allen and Elmer Jr., of Rapid City; seven daughters; Grace Kursave of Black Hawk, Edna Mullin of Rapid City, Dorothy Poarch of Wanblee, Kathleen Frerichs, Janesville, Wisc., Helen Byrne of Martin, Florence Mattley of Mitchell, Nebr., and Margaret Hoopes of Warner Robbins, Georgia. He is also survived by 37 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. One daughter Ruth Poarch, one grandson, three great grandsons and one great-great-granddaughter preceeded him in death.
