Description	:	Elmer Louis Meyer, son of William and Caroline (Lena) Christensen Meyer, was born on March 29, 1906, in Crawford County. He attended country school near his parents' home in Crawford County. On May 12, 1932, he was united in marriage to Margret Lorraine Brotherson at Denison, Ia. They farmed in Crawford County until 1938, when they rented the Rose Legler farm in Coon Valley Township, rural Sac City., Ia. Read More	Elmer Louis Meyer, son of William and Caroline (Lena) Christensen Meyer, was born on March 29, 1906, in Crawford County. He attended country school near his parents' home in Crawford County. On May 12, 1932, he was united in marriage to Margret Lorraine Brotherson at Denison, Ia. They farmed in Crawford County until 1938, when they rented the Rose Legler farm in Coon Valley Township, rural Sac City., Ia. They lived there for five years, until they purchased the farm which they still own in Coon Valley Township. Elmer farmed and raised purebred Hereford cattle until he retired in 1968. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Upon retiring to Lake View, Ia., he joined Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Elmer was interested in community affairs and held many board positions through the years, some of which were the following: President of the Iowa Hereford Association, Yetter Elevator Board, Calhoun County Electric, Corn Belt Power, Sac County Golf & Country Club, Sac County Fair Board and the Bean Processing Board. After a prolonged illness, he was called to his eternal rest on December 13, 1983, at Twilight Acres Nursing Home in Wall Lake, Ia. He was 77 years, 8 months and 13 days of age. Survivors include his wife, Margret Lorraine; five children: Carol (Mrs. Melvin) Peters, Marlin W. Meyer, Lenore (Mrs. John) Rix, Allen E. Meyer, and Joyce P. Robson; eleven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters: Mrs. Jake Jansen of Carnarvon and Mrs. Marvin Brotherson of Council Bluffs; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother; his brother, Julius; three grandchildren: Steven Robson, Edger Robson and Jeffrey Robson; and one great grandchild Justin Sharp. Services were held at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 17, 1983, with Pastor H.W. Kramer officiating. Active attendants were eight grandsons: David Peters, Dennis Peters, Douglas Peters, Michael Meyer, Scott Rix, Craig Meyer, John Meyer and Thomas Meyer. Honorary attendants were Velvin Rieman, Richard Glassnapp, E.P. Kettering, Vernal Hanson, Donald Jacobsen and Richie Davis. Interment was made at the Wall Lake Cemetery under the direction of Farber & Otteman Funeral Home of Lake View. SOURCE: The Lake View Resort - 12/28/1983
