He was married to Katherine Sarah Wright on December 24, 1920 at Columbus, Nebr. Elmer leaves behind to mourn his death his beloved and devoted wife, Katherine; four sisters, Mrs. Anna Wilbur, Omaha, Mrs. Flora McIntyre, Omaha, Mrs. Vernon Goodman, St. Edward, Mrs. Milo Summers, Frankfort, Kan.; and four brothers, Lorenz, Hilbert and Albert of Albion, and Herbert of Portland, Ore., also several nieces and nephews. Elmer Berg was a member of the American Legion and a veteran of World War I, having loyally served his country in the service of the United States Navy. He was baptized and confirmed in the Zion Lutheran church at Albion. During the first years of Mr. and Mrs. Berg's married life they lived near Albion. In 1936 they moved to Oregon where they have since made their home. Elmer was a most patient sufferer during his illness and had complete faith and trust in his God. Not only does he leave a devoted and faithful wife, whom God has endowed with immeasurable patience and sympathetic and everlasting affection, but he also leaves a host of warm and sincere friendships among those with whom he lived. Before leaving Portland, Ore., funeral services were held at the J. P. Rose chapel Thursday afternoon, November 14. Out-of-town relatives attending services in Albion were: Herbert Berg of Portland, Ore.; Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Wilbur and John of Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. R. L. McIntyre and Maxine of Omaha; and Mr. and Mrs. Milo Summers of Frankfort, Kan. (Albion Weekly News, Albion, Nebraska, Thursday, November 28, 1946) Katherine (Wright) Berg remarried in 1947 to Sven Johnson. She died in Oregon in 1961.
