He received his education in the rural schools. On December 25, 1927, he was united in marriage to Esther Bahls at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Garnavillo. Hoth Elmer Paul Otto Hoth, son of John and Louise Meyer Hoth, was born in Boardman Township on August 25, 1902. He received his education in the rural schools. On December 25, 1927, he was united in marriage to Esther Bahls at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Garnavillo. They were the parents of four children, two sons and two daughters. Hoth was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Clayton Cente on September 13, 1903. He was confirmed at that church on April 1, 1917. He became a member of Peace UCC at Elkader in 1941. Before he moved to Elkader in 1961, Hoth had farmed in Read and Farmersburg Townships. He was preceded in death by one son, Eugene, by a grandson and by four sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his wife; one son, Vernon, Farmersburg; and two daughters, Mrs. Allan Dale (Marlene) Marmann, Elkader, and Mrs. Ronald (Ila Mae) Mueller, Monona. Survivors also include two brothers and sister, Edwin and Willis Hoth and Tena Glawe, all of Elkader. In addition to these relatives he also leaves 15 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Hoth had experienced declining health for a number of months and was a patient at Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien when he passed away Monday, December 7, 1970, having reached the age of 67 years, 3 months and 12 days. Pallbearers were Harley Radloff Sr., Ervin Breitsprecher, Harry Hoth, Reuben Hoth, Leon Hoth, Cecil Bahls, Harold Bahls and Stanley Stade. Card of Thanks We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to our many relatives, friends and neighbors for their kind expression of sympathy, donations of food, floral offerings and memorials during the illness and death of our beloved husband, father and grandfather. A special thank you to Rev. Volle for his many visits and comforting words during our recent bereavement. Also to Dr. Smith, Dr. Auer and all the nurses from the several different hospitals which he was in any way possible. These many acts of kindness will always be remembered.
