Description	:	Elmer Willard Wendelin was born on September 23, 1917 at home in Lancaster County, and he died August 28 at the age of 67. He was the son of Willie and Emma Poertner Wendelin. Elmer was one of four children. His brother and sisters were Glen Wendelin of Hallam, LaVerna Kattau of Crete, and Blanche Weidner of Trenton, Nebraska. Elmer was baptized at home on October 14, 1917 by Rev. Gericke. He was confirmed in St. John Lutheran Church on May 24, 1931 by Rev. Cholcher. Elmer was one of four children. His brother and sisters were Glen Wendelin of Hallam, LaVerna Kattau of Crete, and Blanche Weidner of Trenton, Nebraska. Elmer was baptized at home on October 14, 1917 by Rev. Gericke. He was confirmed in St. John Lutheran Church on May 24, 1931 by Rev. Cholcher. Elmer attended school at the public school and St. John parochial school. Elmer married LaVerne Kattau on March 6, 1940 at St. John's Church with Rev. Pebler officiating at the marriage. Elmer lived in this community all of his life. This is also where he farmed. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church all of his life. He is survived by his wife, LaVerne, by his daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Dale Gropp, by his two grandchildren, Julie and Michael Gropp, and by his brother Glen and his sisters, LaVerna Kattau and Blanche Weidner. Funeral services were August 31 at St. John Lutheran Church, Kramer with the Rev. John Heckman officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Source: The Crete News, September 4, 1985
