Description	:	Mrs. John Muth, a pioneer resident of northwestern Iowa, died at her home in Hawarden last Saturday evening after an immediate illness of about ten days. She had been a long and patient sufferer from asthma, but had been feeling better than usual this winter, until her recent illness. O'Connor, of Emmett, S.D., and Rev. Fr. Mullroney, of Worthing, S.D. Elmira Willey was born in Quebec, Canada, December 13, 1850. When a child she came to Delmar, la., with her parents and then accompanied them to Sioux county in 1870. Her girlhood days were spent on the old homestead in Washington township. On February 22, 1879, she was united in marriage with John Muth. After their marriage they moved onto a farm in Plymouth county where they resided for many years. They left the farm in the spring of 1912 and moved to Hawarden where they have since made their home. She is survived by her husband, ten children and twenty-one grandchildren. The children are Henry, of Winner, S.D.; Mrs. Joe Luken, of LeMars, la.; Melvin, of, Akron, la.; John Sr., Thomas, William, Walter, Austin, Mrs. L.C. Morey and Ruth of Hawarden. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Flora Lester, of Hawarden, and one brother, Wesley Willey, of Kingsley, Iowa. The out of town relatives in attendance at the funeral were Henry Muth, of Winner, S.D.; Mrs. Joe Luken, of LeMars; Melvin Muth, of Akron; Charles Muth and Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Hatton, of Ireton; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Willey, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Willey, Mr. and Mrs. Napoleon Latendresse and Mr. and Mrs. Jay. Gifford, of Beresford. In the death of Mrs. Muth another of the few remaining pioneers of Sioux county has passed away. She was one of the few who still remembered the bleak prairies, the sod shanties and the many vicissitudes of the homestead days in northwestern Iowa.
