Coleman on December 3, 1912, in Wapello County, Iowa. --------------- Obituary From "Ottumwa Courier," November 29, 1960: Death Comes To Mrs. Fred Coleman Elmyra Houk Coleman, 74, of 1019 South Madison avenue, died Monday at 11:20 p.m. at the Ottumwa hospital. She was born March 4, 1886, in Wapello county [sic], the daughter of Elisha and Nancy Elkins [sic] Houk and spent most of her life here. Her parents were pioneers of the Ormanville community. She was married in 1908, to Clarence Kendall. He died in 1911. On December 3, 1912, she was married to Fred J. Coleman, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. James Chesser and Mrs. Fred Chadwick of Ottumwa; two sons, Woodrow Coleman of San Diego, Calif., and Donald Coleman of Fremont; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Ben Houk; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a son, Roy Coleman; four brothers and four sisters. The body is at the Johnson funeral chapel. "Coleman Funeral," From "Ottumwa Courier," November 30, 1960: Funeral services for Mrs. Elmyra Coleman, 74, of 1019 South Madison avenue, who died at her home at 11:20 p.m. Monday, will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Johnson funeral chapel. The Rev. Roscoe Morrison, pastor of the Harding Park Open Bible church and the Rev. E.E. Sherwood, pastor of the Harding Street Pentecostal Church of God, will conduct the service. Burial will be in the Shaul cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bernie Houk, Verlin Houk, Darrell Bell, Milton Grothe, Ronald Pettit and Willoughby Davis.
