Boyce on December 7, 1903, in Ottumwa, Iowa. In the 1910 Census for Wapello County, Iowa, John H. Fleming, age 67, was boarding with Elor and her three Cowdery children, George, Bernice, and Raymond. John H. Fleming married Elor Carnes Boyce on April 18, 1910, in Wapello County. Elor's obituary gives her birth year as 1863, and this also agrees with her age at death in her obituary. However, her stone is engraved with 1862. I am not certain which is correct, but for the purposes of this memorial, I am using the year of birth on her stone. -------------------------------------------- Obituary From "Ottumwa tri-weekly courier," December 08, 1910: FUNERALS. The funeral of Mrs. Elor Fleming, who died Friday at the family home, 109 1/2 South Adella street, was held from the residence this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. S. Isaac Elder of the Davis Street Christian church, conducted the services. The remains were interred in the Shaul cemetery. Obituary From "Ottumwa tri-weekly courier," December 15, 1910: Elor Carnes Flemming was born in Fairfield, Ia., March 16, 1863, and died at her home 109 1/2 South Adella street, Ottumwa, Ia., Dec. 2, 1910, aged 47 years, 9 months and 9 days. Much of her life was spent in the south, the last eight years, however, were lived in Ottumwa. She leaves two boys, Raymond and George Cowdery and one daughter, Mrs. Bernice Taylor and two sisters, Mrs. Wm. Carmel of Bloomfleld, Ia., and Mrs. Viola Thorne of Omaha, Nebr. She united with the Christian church while young in years and never changed her membership from the place of her earliest Christian experience. She was united in marriage to John H. Flemming last April. Funeral services were conducted from the residence on Monday, Dec. 5, at 10 a.m. Isaac Elder, pastor of the Davis Street Christian church officiated. Interment In the Shaul cemetery.-Contributed.
