Description	:	Elrede F. Schneider, 83, of Marshalltown, IA, passed away, Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at the Iowa Veterans Home, in Marshalltown. Celebration of Life services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Pursel Davis Funeral and Cremation Care. Visitation will begin at 9:00 until time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be at a later date in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Elrede may be directed to Alzheimer's, Diabetes, and Parkinson's Research. Elrede was born in Garner, Iowa on December 2, 1928 to George and Maude Ayers Schneider. During his high school years Elrede spent his summers in Saint Anthony, Iowa farming for the John Lyons family. He graduated from Garner High School in 1947. He met Velma L. Hauser and after a 6 week courtship, they were married at the Saint Anthony Catholic Church on February 5, 1951. In March of that year, he was then drafted into the U.S. Army and served 3 years at Fort Carson, CO. When they returned to Marshalltown he worked various jobs, while going to night school, he started at ACI and then Lennox. He was transferred to Carrollton/Lewisville, Texas in 1977 to 2002. He was a loyal employee for 40+ years and was involved in getting a Patent on the pulse furnace. He enjoyed collecting coins, clocks, planting gardens, farming and listening to Bach. Elrede is survived by his wife of 61 years, Velma, his sons; Eldon (Monica) Schneider of Marshalltown, George (Maureen) Schneider of Urbandale, IA, his daughters; Christine (Wesley) Richardson of Montour, IA, and Pat (Sam) Evans of Godley, TX; 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, sisters; Theo and Genevieve of CA, Pat (Bud) Portwood of Harlan, IA, and numerous nieces and nephews. Elrede was preceded by his son Steven, great-granddaughter Cheyann, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
