Mrs. Schneider, who had been ill several months, was born at Nora Springs but had lived in and near Garner several years before coming to Clear Lake two years ago. She was a member of the Garner Catholic church and of the Garner court of C.D.A. Mrs. Schneider is survived by her husband; her father, H. S. Ayers, who lives at the Schneider home; her foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Engstler, Garner; and nine children, Theonella, Patricia, Armond, Elexine, Elrede, Jack, Anna Marie, Genevieve and Millicent Rose. source: Mason City Globe Gazette 23 Aug 1941, page 7 ********************** Rite Held For Lake Woman Out-of-Town Relatives Attend Funeral of Mrs. George Schneider Clear lake - Funeral services for Mrs.George Schneider, 42, who died at her home on Northwest Center street Thursday, were held at St. Boniface Catholic church, Garner, Monday morning. Requiem high mass was celebrated by the Rev. E. J. Supple, Clear Lake, and the sermon was by the Rev. M. J. Manternach, Garner pastor. Burial was in Garner Catholic cemetery. Pallbears were Harvey and Bernard Engstler, Virgil Tobin, Alouis and Leo Schmidt and Raymond Kriz. Arnold Schmidt and Joe Tobin were ushers. Maude Ayers Engstler was born Oct. 12, 1899, at Nora Springs, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Ayers. Her mother having died when she was two years old, the child was reared by Mr. and Mrs. John Engstler of Garner. She attended Garner high school and later took up the study of piano music in which she became proficient. Sept. 28, 1920, she was married to Mr. Schneider, who, with nine children, Theonella, Patricia, Armond, Elexine, Elreda, Jack, Anna Marie, Genevieve and Millicent Rose, survives. Her father and foster-parents also survive. The family lived at Garner until a few years ago when they moved to Floyd county for two years before coming to Clear Lake a year and a half ago. Osterman and family, Mr. and Mrs. John Albaugh and family, Joe Schneider, Mrs. Vincent Bloom, Mr.and Mrs. Bernard Osterman and Mr. and Mrs. Gerhard Osterman, Hashua. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Schneider, Waterloo; Mrs. Les Gardner, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Ted Schneider, St. Paul, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Fritsch and family, Owatonna, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Louis Schneider and family, Manley, and Mrs. L. Maude's mother was Cora Belle Yoder Ayres who passed away when Maude was 2 years old.
