Description	:	Elroy Henry Dicky Kapels, 80, of Creston, Nebraska, left his earthly home to join his heavenly Father Thursday, March 15, 2018, at Bryan Health West, in Lincoln, Nebraska. The funeral service will be Tuesday, March 20, 10:30 A.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 12.5 miles North, with Rev. Brad Birtell officiating. Interment will be in the St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. at Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Tuesday from 9:30 - 10:30 A.M. at the church with a family prayer service at 10:15 A.M. Read More	Elroy Henry Dicky Kapels, 80, of Creston, Nebraska, left his earthly home to join his heavenly Father Thursday, March 15, 2018, at Bryan Health West, in Lincoln, Nebraska. The funeral service will be Tuesday, March 20, 10:30 A.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 12.5 miles North, with Rev. Brad Birtell officiating. Interment will be in the St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. at Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Tuesday from 9:30 - 10:30 A.M. at the church with a family prayer service at 10:15 A.M. Dicky was born to Adolph and Elvira (Osten) Kapels. He attended St. Johns Lutheran grade school and graduated from Creston High School in 1955. He was class valedictorian of his class and received a Regency Scholarship to UNL. After graduation, Dicky continued farming with his father and his brothers, where he and his twin brother LeRoy took care of the dairy operation. He milked registered holsteins for 40 years. On April 14, 1973, Dicky was united in marriage to Donna Eileen Chapman. Dicky was a lifetime member of St. Johns Church. He was a charter member of the Creston Lions Club where he served as secretary. He was a member of the Humphrey Dairy Breeders and the National Farmers Organization. He was a concerned farmer about soil conservation and they were awarded the Nebraska Farmer of the Year. Dicky enjoyed doing wood working projects and enjoyed gardening. Dicky is survived by: Wife: Donna Kapels of Creston, NE Son: Chris (Beth) Kapels of Omaha, NE Daughter: Ginger (Robert) Turk of Council Bluffs, IA Grandchildren: Braxton & Jayden Kapels; Tyler & Niles Pedersen Brother: Wilmer (Nancy) Kapels of Creston, NE Dicky was preceded in death by: Parents: Adolph & Elvira Kapels Twin Brother: LeRoy Kapels Brother: Melvern Buddy Kapels Sister: Berniece Rosendahl
