Description	:	Elsie Stabe, 84, of Hinton, Iowa, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 2, 2015, at the Plymouth Manor Care Center, surrounded by her family. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at All Saints Parish-St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars, Iowa, with Reverend Kevin Richter and Reverend Richard Sitzmann as con-celebrants. Interment will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, 6 miles east of Hinton. Interment will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, 6 miles east of Hinton. Visitation with the family present will be after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at All Saints Parish-St. James Catholic Church, with a parish rosary at 5:00 p.m., followed by a 7:00 p.m. Scriptural wake service - all at the church on Tuesday evening. Visitation will resume Wednesday morning at the church from 10:00 a.m. until Mass time. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Ben Stabe, Bryce Stabe, Jeff Lackore, James Stabe, Marcus Stabe, Tyler Petty, Dustin Petty, Brian Langel, Brent Langel, Caden Stabe, and Chase Stabe. Honorary pallbearers will be Elsie's granddaughters: Christa Adamson, Missy Kerns, Marcia Langel, Brittany Stabe, Kaitlyn Stabe, Kaylee Stabe, Lindsey Petty, Miranda Stabe, and Addison Stabe. The former Elsie Christina Sitzmann was born July 18, 1930, to Lester and Rita (Ruhland) Sitzmann of rural LeMars. The family lived on a farm near Neptune, Iowa, before moving to the Leeds area in Sioux City, Iowa, where Elsie attended school and also graduated from high school. After graduation, she worked for the American Popcorn Company (Jolly Time) until she met the love of her life, Vernon Stabe. The two were married August 26, 1950. The couple lived on the Stabe family farm east of Hinton, Iowa, for over 60 years; there they raised their six children. Elsie co-owned and operated Stabe Auction and Realty with Vernon until her retirement in 2006. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Neptune. She enjoyed traveling to visit with relatives and friends, gardening, and especially spending time with Vernon, their kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. The couples' annual trip to the Branson, Missouri, area was something she really enjoyed. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Vernon; their six children: Bob (Sheila) Stabe of Altoona, WI, Jeanne (Henrik) Petersen of Williams Bay, WI, LuAnn (Steve) Langel, Le Mars, Randy Stabe, Hinton, Teresa (Scott) Petty, Le Mars, and Dennis (Karlene) Stabe, Elk Point, SD; 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; Elsie's brothers, David (Nancy) Sitzmann and Gary (Carol) Sitzmann of Sioux City; a sister-in-law, Esther (Orville) Eikenhorst, Le Mars; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close family friends. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Donald Stabe; a great-granddaughter, Kyndall Jo Petty; her parents; her parents-in-law, Karl and Amanda Stabe; one brother, Floyd Sitzmann; brothers-in-law: Ralph, Marvin, and Ruben Stabe; and sisters-in-law, Hilda Pearson and Agnes, Alma, and Ada Stabe. Elsie will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Melanie Kruse and others of Hospice of Siouxland for the period that they cared for mom. We would also like to thank the staff within the cottage center at Brentwood Good Samaritan and the incredible staff at Plymouth Manor who cared for mom in her final weeks. Arrangements are with the Carlsen Funeral Home of Le Mars.
