Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Gary Snyder officiating. There will be a luncheon in St. Michael's Parish prior to the burial. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery at Neptune, Iowa, with military rites conducted by the U.S. Navy. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Floyd was born Feb. 6, 1932, in Neptune, Iowa, to Lester and Reta (Ruhland) Sitzmann. He graduated from Leeds High School in 1951, and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. He was stationed aboard the USS Joseph P. Kennedy Destroyer and was a member of the Tin Can Sailors. He married Beverly Hedges on Aug. 11, 1951, and to this union, there were seven children. He married Jeanette M. Olsen on Nov. 30, 2002, in Sioux City. After the service, he returned to Sioux City and worked for Cudahy Packing Plant until it closed in 1954. He then worked for North American Manufacturing before opening his own machine shop in 1976 in Kingsley, Iowa. He owned and operated F.S. Repair Inc. in Kingsley for many years. He was very devoted to his business and was a very kind, giving and hard-working man. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, South Sioux City Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Good Sam's Camping Club. Floyd enjoyed dancing, traveling and camping. Survivors include his wife, Jeanette of Sioux City; five sons and their wives, Guy and Nancy Sitzmann of Brandon, S.D., Rodney and Kathy Sitzmann of Sioux City, Steve and Deon of Sioux City, Craig and Deb of Moville, Iowa, and Jamie and Barb of Kingsley; a daughter and her husband, Lynette and Frank Harvey of Remsen, Iowa; three stepchildren and their spouses, Mike and Linda Olsen of Sioux City, Cindy and David Grause of Sioux City, and Terry and Chris Olsen of Conifer, Colo.; two brothers and their wives, David and Nancy Sitzmann and Gary and Carol Sitzmann, all of Sioux City; a sister and her husband, Elsie and Vernon Stabe of Hinton, Iowa; 26 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Floyd Jr.; and his parents. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Chad, Aaron, Justin, Josh, Corey, Heath and Stevie Jr.
