Description	:	"BIDDLE -- Elsie Esther Houser Sams enjoyed her children, reading scripture and watching baseball and football. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star, Biddle Home Demonstration Club, Farm Bureau and the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was also a 4-H leader. Mrs. Sams, 78, died Wednesday of natural causes in Powder River Manor where she had lived for a year. She was born in Burleigh, N. D., a daughter of Grover Cleveland and Lena Elizabeth Deisburg Houser. Her parents homesteaded at Doyle Creek and she was educated in Broadus, graduating from high school... Mrs. Sams, 78, died Wednesday of natural causes in Powder River Manor where she had lived for a year. She was born in Burleigh, N. D., a daughter of Grover Cleveland and Lena Elizabeth Deisburg Houser. Her parents homesteaded at Doyle Creek and she was educated in Broadus, graduating from high school in 1929. She attended teaching school in Dillon and taught for several years in Powder River County. On May 20, 1939, she married Gilbert O. Sams in Belle Fourche, S.D., and they lived in Biddle. Between 1965 and 1978, they spent numerous winters in Arizona. Mr. Sams died in May 1978. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jess (Mary) Bandy of Biddle; a brother, Sam Houser; and a sister, Nettie Hotchkiss, both of New Hampton, Iowa; and a grandson. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Powder River Congregational Church with burial in Valley View Cemetery." The Billings Gazette, October 20, 1988
