Description	:	Elsie Cook, the daughter of Walter and Anna Anderson Benway, was born at Norwood, and passed away at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Indianola, at the age of 79 years, one month, and two days. Mrs. Cook graduated from the Norwood School in 1929. She married John "Roy" Cook in Chariton, on October 16, 1938. They raised three children. As a housewife and mother, her interests were her family, music, helping people, and church work. She was a lifelong Lucas County resident. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy in 1980, her parents, one brother... Read More	Elsie Cook, the daughter of Walter and Anna Anderson Benway, was born at Norwood, and passed away at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Indianola, at the age of 79 years, one month, and two days. Mrs. Cook graduated from the Norwood School in 1929. She married John "Roy" Cook in Chariton, on October 16, 1938. They raised three children. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy in 1980, her parents, one brother and two sisters. Survivors include her children: Rev. Roy Cook of Des Moines and his wife Leah; daughter Anna Belle Alexander of Melrose and her husband Larry; and daughter JoAnn Steinbach of Chariton and her husband Tom. Also 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; also surviving are Wilbur and Avis Ellis and family of Chariton along with many friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 1 PM at the Mosher Funeral Home in Chariton. The service was conducted by the Rev. Pearl Sams, with music by her grandchildren, Doug and Susan Steinbach, and Mrs. Colleen Greubel playing the organ. Casketbearers were Earl Ellis, Bruce Ellis, Bill Cook, David Cook, Ron Gwinn, and Richard Cromer. Honorary casketbearers were her grandsons: Jeff Cook, Chris Steinbach, Craig Alexander, Scott Steinbach and Doug Steinbach. Interment was in the Bethel Chapel Cemetery, in rural Clarke County.
