Description	:	John "Roy" Cook, son of Andrew and Isabelle Cook, was born March 9, 1908 in Lucas County and passed away Friday, Oct. 24, 1980 at the Lucas County Memorial Hospital at the age of 72. On Oct. 14, 1938, John was united in marriage to Elsie Benway. To this union three children were born. He accepted God early in life and that's the way he lived, "What will be, will be". Read More	John "Roy" Cook, son of Andrew and Isabelle Cook, was born March 9, 1908 in Lucas County and passed away Friday, Oct. 24, 1980 at the Lucas County Memorial Hospital at the age of 72. On Oct. 14, 1938, John was united in marriage to Elsie Benway. To this union three children were born. He accepted God early in life and that's the way he lived, "What will be, will be". John and Elsie lived most of their married life in Lucas County. John farmed, working later for seven years at Woods Brothers in Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, five brothers, one brother in law, and four sisters in law. John is survived by his wife, Elsie; three children: Anna Alexander of Confidence, Joann Steinbach of Chariton, and Roy T. Cook of Osceola. Also 12 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers: Orval of Chariton and Clarence of Osceola; one sister: Edith Hull of Oquawka, Ill; several nieces and nephews, and many relatives and friends. Services for John "Roy" Cook were held Monday, Oct. 27, 1980 at the Mosher Funeral Home. The services were conducted by the Rev. Richard Starkey. Burial was in the Bethel Chapel Cemetery.
