Description	:	Elsie Lorene Frank Bernhardt was born to Henry and Elizabeth (Hardt) Frank on 6/29/1935 and died peacefully on Sunday morning, 10/2/2016. As a child, she attended a country school west of Laurel. She graduated Valedictorian of Laurel High School at age 16. She earned a degree in Business and English Education at age 19 from Rocky Mountain College. Read More	Elsie Lorene Frank Bernhardt was born to Henry and Elizabeth (Hardt) Frank on 6/29/1935 and died peacefully on Sunday morning, 10/2/2016. As a child, she attended a country school west of Laurel. She graduated Valedictorian of Laurel High School at age 16. She earned a degree in Business and English Education at age 19 from Rocky Mountain College. Elsie worked at Allis-Chalmers and taught at Billings Business College, where she taught Korean War veterans as a 19 year old. Elsie and Robert Bernhardt met at a wedding, and were married January 15, 1955, in Laurel. They moved to Park City in 1964. Elsie substitute taught at Park City Schools until she was no longer able to navigate the stairs. Her greatest career was as a mother and farm partner. Even when she was so busy keeping her home and garden and helping on the farm, she took her girls to piano and swimming lessons every week. She didn’t miss a concert or sports event and sewed many chorus dresses over the years. She made quilts, afghans, and memory books for all her children and grandchildren. She greatly valued education for her children and grandchildren. She was a Sunday School and Bible School teacher at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Park City. Her children remember her studying her lessons on Saturday nights. By then, the house was all cleaned and the shoes all polished. She was active in Music Boosters, Bible Study, and Hobby Club. Elsie was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in her 30s, as a young mother. She kept active, was always hopeful, and had great faith. But the greatest of these was love; she especially loved children. She showed support to others who lived with disability by serving as a peer counselor through Independent Living Services. Mom was quick to call or visit those who were hurting. Elsie loved her Savior, children, keeping everything in its place, bookwork, quilting, creating personalized memory books, sewing baby blankets, teaching, reading, crocheting, gardening, Christmas, family dinners, watching movies with her grandchildren, board games, Jeopardy, pinochle and peanuts, chocolate sundaes, corn on the cob, heavy whipping cream, and Costco. Elsie lost Bob in 2008, and she continued to live in the farm house until 2013, when she moved into Assisted Living in Billings. There she made many more friends. She entered hospice care in February, 2015, yet continued to enjoy a full and loving life. Survivors include Children: Michael (Lorrie) Bernhardt; Laurie (Tom) Glover; Lynette (Randy) Tedlund; Mary (Mark) Stabio; John (Jennifer) Bernhardt. Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren: Matthew (Jennifer) Bernhardt and children Audra and Aiden; Joseph (Beleisha) Bernhardt and children Emma and Grace; Annie and Ashley Glover; Jacob, Robert, Daniel and Benjamin Tedlund; Katie (Ryan) Stabio Mohr; David and John Stabio; Randi (Mike) Diercks McManemin; Lane (Leah) Diercks and child Luke; Taylor, Mackenzie, and Jack Bernhardt. Sisters: Shirley (Everett) Schoessler and Connie Frederickson (Bob Reiter). Sisters and Brothers in Law: Bill (Gladys) Bernhardt; Dorothy (Ted) Henry; Darlene Bromenshenk; Don (Carol) Bernhardt; Donna (Bill) Perrigo; Marcia Frank; and Raymond Robertus. Many nieces and nephews, extended family, friends and neighbors who she loved very much. Preceding Elsie in passing were these Beloved: her husband of 53 years; her parents Henry and Elizabeth Frank and Robert’s parents Jacob and Amelia Bernhardt; Sisters Frances (Val) Haman; Gloria Robertus; Brother Vince Frank; Brothers and Sisters in law: Gerald Bromenshenk and Jim and Marlene Bernhardt. Nieces and nephews Douglas Haman, Bobby Reiter, Ken Henry, Mark Schoessler, David Bernhardt, and Diane Robertus Miller; and many loving and loved extended family, friends, and neighbors. We wish to thank all of the many loving caregivers Mom had in her home, Grand Park, Highgate, and Riverstone Hospice. It is impossible to name everyone, but Mom and her family always appreciated your loving care so much. A special thank you to our dear Bonnie Woods who has become a member of our family. Suggested Memorials: St. Paul Lutheran Church in Park City; Trinity Lutheran Church in Billings; Park City Ambulance; Gateway House; Community Hope; or your choice. Visitations will be at Trinity Lutheran Church before the funeral on Saturday.
