April 9, 2000; -------------- LAKE VIEW , Iowa — Elsie Lucille Christiansen, 79, of Lake View died Sunday, April 9, 2000, of injuries suffered in an automobile accident near Odebolt, Iowa. Mrs. Christiansen was horn Feb. 12, 1921 in Ida County, Iowa the daughter of D.J. and Ruth (Bleakly) Bennett. She graduated from Schaller (Iowa) High School in 1938. then completed nurses training at Methodist School of Nursing in Sioux City. She married Arthur Christiansen on Sept. 25, 1943, in Sioux City. They made their home on a farm near Arthur, Iowa. She worked as a nurse at hospitals in Sioux City, Battle Creek, Ida Grove, Storm Lake and Sac City, Iowa. She retired in the early 1980s. Her husband died in the same automobile accident on April 9, 2000. She belonged to United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star and Old Nurses Association. She enjoyed stained glass, furniture refinishing and painting, and collecting crackle glass and antiques. Survivors include two sons, Allan and his wife, Catherine of Glenwood, Iowa, and Marvin of Davenport, Iowa; a daughter and her husband, Sara Jane and Dennis Taylor of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew, Mark and Amy Christiansen and Theodore "Ted," Alexander and Leslie Taylor; a brother and his wife, David and Joyce Bennett of Rembrandt, Iowa; a sister and her husband, Mary Ruth and Verne Campbell of Storm Lake, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
