Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be from 2:00 – 4:00 pm Monday, May 29, with a Prayer Service beginning at 3:00 pm at Miller Funeral Home-Downtown, 507 S. Elsie Lydia Brandt, daughter of Angelus and Lydia (Hahn) Brandt, was born June 11, 1928 in Avon, SD. She attended Avon High School graduating in 1947. She had moved to Sioux Falls in 1948. Where she worked at Western Surety until 1950. Later in life, she served as the “Lunch Lady” at Laura Wilder Elementary School for many years. Elsie was united in Marriage with Elton G. Gehring on November 6, 1949 at Zion Lutheran Church in Avon, SD. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting doilies, playing bridge, and was a big fan of the Minnesota Twins Baseball. Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Bruce (Darlene) Gehring, Grand Marais, MN, Bonnie Bruggeman, Brandon, SD, Becky Wittrock and Dan Kippley, Sioux Falls, SD, and son-in-law, Allan Husby and his wife, Linda, Sioux Falls, SD; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren, Lori (John) Anderson and their children, Abigail and Aaron, Beth (Bryan) Arends and their children, Benjamin and Jeremiah, Renae (Jeremy) Hofer, Katherine Wittrock and Matthew Wittrock; three siblings, Leatta Priebe-Spomer, St. Paul, MN, Arlene Dykstra, Avon, SD, James (Nadine) Brandt, St. Charles, MO. Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Elton; daughter Barbara Husby; her parents, Angelus and Lydia Brandt; brothers, Fred, Eddie, John, Arthur, Rudolph and Ervin Brandt; sisters, Louise Jurrens, Emma Wheelhouse and Leona Moerer; and son-in-law, Gene Bruggeman. Memorials may be given to either Good Samaritan Village - Staff Appreciation or Good Samaritan Village – In Thanks To 200 Staff; both in care of Tiffany Geveshausen, Community Relations Director, 3901 S.
