Description	:	Elsie Mae Givan, 79, of 18 7th Ave. S.E., Aberdeen died Friday, June 18 at the Aberdeen Nursing Center. Services were held Monday, June 21 at 2 p.m., at the Groton United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Maines officiating. Burial was in the Groton Union Cemetery under the direction of the Miller-Huebl Funeral Home in Aberdeen. Organist was Mrs. Gene Cassels and the soloist was Sarah Maines. Elsie Mae Griffin was born April 25, 1903 to Charles and Letha Gravett Griffin in Adrian, Mo. At a young age the family moved to Corning, Iowa, where she grew up and attended school. On November 29, 1923, she married Glenwood Givan in Corning, Iowa. They made their home in Adams County, Iowa area until 1941 when they moved to Groton. They had lived in Groton since that time. Mr. Givan died October 26, 1962. Mrs. Givan has been a resident of the Aberdeen Nursing Center since February of 1979. She was a member of the Groton United Methodist Church, Church Circle and Ladies Aid and the Rebekah Lodge. Survivors include one son, Robert Givan of Aberdeen; one daughter, Mrs. Billie (Rowena) Roth of Aberdeen; and three sisters, Mrs. Stewart (Mildred) Hartman of Creston, Iowa; Lois Lear of Omaha, Nev.; and Mrs. Paul (Ruth) Denton of Rock Island, Ill., also nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was proceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, two brothers and two sisters.
