Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Elgin. The Rev. Thomas Bauwens will officiate. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Huffman's Brooks Chapel in Elgin with an 8 p.m. Wake Service. Mrs. Josten was born Feb. 23, 1902, at Rosalie to Matthaues and Wilhelminia (Passarge) Nissen. She grew up at Rosalie and attended the Rosalie Public Schools. In 1917 the family moved to the Beaver Valley 25 miles west of Elgin where they lived for two years. They then moved to a farm southwest of Elgin. On Feb. 28, 1922, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Elgin, she married Hubert R. Josten. The couple farmed in the Elgin community until they retired to their home in Elgin in 1970. Mr. Josten died April 15, 1975, and she continued to live in Elgin until suffering a stroke in 1997. She then moved to Grand Island to be near her daughter. Mrs. Josten was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, and its Altar Society. She was a Gold Star Mother. Survivors include one daughter, Delores (Mrs. Donald) Koskovich of Grand Island; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one step-great-granddaughter; and two sisters, Bessie Hawks and Lillie (Mrs. Leonard) Schmitz, both of Elgin. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Harold and Donald; one sister, Frieda Nissen; and three brothers, Matt, Willie "Bill" and Alfred Nissen.
