Elsie was born August 20, 1933 in Union County, NC, a daughter of the late Pleasant Greene and Catherine Ruth Aycoth Greene. Born with a name meaning "noble and kind of spirit", Elsie lived up to this description throughout her life. Known as one that did not pass the buck, she was majestic. With a personality that was genuine, she was caring and considerate. Elsie was known to catch all that life had to offer. Full of life and vitality, she was a highly skilled individual who remained humble regardless of her many abilities. She took pride in her work, and excelled in leaps and bounds at all she put her hands and mind to. In addition to being a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was a friend to all who needed one. Beyond being a woman who loved her family, Elsie loved her nation. Elsie served our country through her service to the United States Navy, during a time when very few women were accepted or enlisted in military service. An extraordinary woman who lived an exceptional life, Elsie will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory are her children; Dorothy Bradford, Catherine Wilcox, and David Wilcox, her sisters; Faye Graham, Carolyn Helms, Doris Crooke, and Virginia Baucom. Survivors also include her 5 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Former husband David Tripp Wilcox, Sr. (b. 30 Dec 1933) Married 26 Sep 1952 Divorced 3 May 1977 He remarried 23 Jun 1978 to Virginia Anne Goodman Ferguson Wilcox Davis Funeral Service is honored to serve the family of Ms. Wilcox.
