Description	:	Sidney Herald 20 Dec 1928 Mrs. Elspy Hoon passed away at Shelton, Wash., after a long illness. She was 80 years of age at her last birthday, June 29, 1928. Elspy Robinson was born in the state of Ohio, June 29, 1848. She was married to J. V. Hoon January 6th, 1864. To this union was born ten children, two dying in infancy. Read More	Sidney Herald 20 Dec 1928 Mrs. Elspy Hoon passed away at Shelton, Wash., after a long illness. She was 80 years of age at her last birthday, June 29, 1928. Elspy Robinson was born in the state of Ohio, June 29, 1848. She was married to J. V. Hoon January 6th, 1864. To this union was born ten children, two dying in infancy. Mrs. Ida Hale died in June, 1885. In the year 1922 Mr. Hoon passed away after which Mrs. Hoon made her home with her several children. In May, 1924, John Hoon died and in April 1927, Mrs. Josephine Messer died at the Sidney hospital. There are five children living to mourn her loss; Ms. Sarah Meyers and Mrs. Maggie Fiege, both of Noorehead, Iowa; Mrs. Walter Scott of Savage, Mont., and William and Edwin Hoon, both of Shelton, Wash. Mrs. Hoon was a member of the Methodist church. The funeral services were held in the Congregational church at Savage, conducted by the Rev. Nye of that church. The body was laid to rest in the Savage cemetery. Besides the children she leaves twenty-one grand children, forty-one great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, also one sister survives her, and a host of friends. Very shortly after their marriage Mr. Hoon enlisted in Company K, 54th Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry and served under Gen. Sherman. He was among the chosen veterans in Sherman's "March to the Sea" and was in the Grand Review at Washington, DC, at the close of the civil war.
