She passed away in her home on May 28, 2008. Elta was born March 18, 1918. She was raised along with one sister and five brothers on a farm 8 miles North of Neligh, Nebraska. Elta graduated from Neligh High School in 1936. She worked in Kansas City until she was needed at home during WWII. Elta married Arnold Middleton in 1947. They had four children. Ave in Chico for Elta Middleton, 90 of Chico. She passed away in her home on May 28, 2008. Elta was born March 18, 1918. She was raised along with one sister and five brothers on a farm 8 miles North of Neligh, Nebraska. Elta graduated from Neligh High School in 1936. She worked in Kansas City until she was needed at home during WWII. Elta married Arnold Middleton in 1947. They had four children. In 1958, they moved their family to Salinas. CA and in 1963 they moved to Chico where they resided for the remainder of their lives. Elta worked at Endicott shoe store until she retired. She served as V.F.W. #1555 Ladies Auxilary President from 1977-1978, V.F.W. district #18 Auxillary President from 1980-1981 and M.O.C. #7 Red Feather Past President. She was active in her church and was a loving caring grandmother. Elta is survived by a brother, Donald Reinke of Neligh, Nebraska; a son, Ronn Middleton of Austin, Texas; three daughters, Nancy Weir of Red Bluff, CA, Gloria Ballinger of Friendswood, Texas and Carol Dougherty of Chico; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a favorite charity in her memory, c/o, Bidwell Chapel. Online condolences can be sent to www.bidwellchapel.com.
