Description	:	Elton Hemmen, 73, Webster City, died Thursday, May 25, 2000 at Hamilton Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Asbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Morgan and Cindi O'Brien, ministry assistant, officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the church. Elton Willys Hemmen, son of Willie and Hilka Klaver Hemmen, was born Feb. 3, 1927 on a farm in Liberty Township of Hamilton County. He graduated from Kamrar High School in 1944. He started farming with his father. On Nov. 6, 1949 he married Kathleen Philbrook of Webster City. The couple resided in Webster City and he was employed at Franklin's (Frigidaire). He did custom farming in the Webster City area. He also did tiling with Ray Hemmen in this area. He retired from custom tiling work in 1999. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen, daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Gene Greenfield, Kamrar, Cheryl Ann and Mark Dunkin of Bussey; grandchildren, Sara, Amanda and Emily Greenfield, Jolee and Mikaela Dunkin; brother and sister-in-law, Stan and Judy Hemmen of Del Mar, Calif., aunt Esther Knutson of Kamrar, and uncle Melbourne Klaver of Webster City, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Ole Olthoff, and sister, Margie Cordes. He was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church and Land Improvement Contractors of America.
