From Find a Grave Contributor 46989537: The Record-Republican Thursday, April 19, 1979 ELVIN SIMMONS Elvin Simmons, 61, of Farmington died at 10:45 a.m. Friday, April 13 in Keokuk Convalescent Center where he was admitted Wednesday from the VA Hospital, Iowa City. The son of Roy and Dora Reisner Simmons, he was born October 30, 1917 in Van Buren County. He married Eleanor Kincaid on July 7, 1946 at Fort Madison. She survives. He spent most of his life in Farmington and was the former owner of the Simmons Hog Buying Station. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Farmington, Richardson-Anthony Post 231 of the American Legion in Farmington. He was a World War II Army veteran. In addition to his widow, he is also survived by a son, David, of Farmington, and a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Sheri) Lowery of Farmington; two grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother and one sister. The funeral service was held Monday, April 16 at 10 a.m. in the Hofbauer Funeral Home, Farmington with the Rev. Scott Holmes officiating. Burial was in Greenglade cemetery, Farmington
