Elvin was baptized Jan. 1, 1927, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osmond, and confirmed on April 15, 1941, in the same church. He attended Osmond Public Schools to the eighth grade. Elvin married Phyllis J. Silhacek on Sept. 25, 1949, at Zion Lutheran Church in Pierce. She died on Aug. 8, 2002. They farmed on the family homestead southwest of Pierce. Elvin was baptized Jan. 1, 1927, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osmond, and confirmed on April 15, 1941, in the same church. He attended Osmond Public Schools to the eighth grade. Elvin married Phyllis J. Silhacek on Sept. 25, 1949, at Zion Lutheran Church in Pierce. She died on Aug. 8, 2002. They farmed on the family homestead southwest of Pierce. Elvin and Phyllis loved to go dancing. For many years, Elvin entertained people in Northeast Nebraska playing the piano and accordion in nursing homes and senior centers. In the fall of 2003, Elvin moved to Pierce. In 2005 he moved to The Meadows in Norfolk. He enjoyed playing his music for his neighbors and friends at The Meadows on a daily basis. He was a resident at the Countryside Home in Madison a short time. He also was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Pierce, and the National Farmers Organization. Survivors are: daughters Pam Purdie-Purinton and husband William of Columbus, Lynette and husband Paul Holan of Pierce, sons, Kevin Krohn of Iowa, Scott and wife Gina Krohn Of Pierce; 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, brother Marvin and wife Marcy Krohn of Norfolk; sister in-laws, Dorothy Krohn of Plainview, and Renata Krohn of Norfolk. Elvin was preceded in death by his parents, wife Phyllis, infant son; brothers, Ray and Harold Krohn; sister Mildred, Meldean and an infant. Burial will be in Prospect View Cemetery in Pierce, NE.
