He was employed at Sheller Globe in Keokuk for 21 years before his retirement in 1967. ----- Elvin James Templeton, 92, of Keokuk, IA died Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the Montrose Health Center in Montrose, IA. In 1921 he was born in Mt. Hamill, IA the son of Herman w. and alta M. Martin Templeton. On June 6, 1943 he was united in marriage to Marjorie Cooper in Kahoka, Mo. She survives. The Templeton's recently celbrated their sevenieth wedding anniversary. Other survivors include two daughters, Jean hagmeier and her husband Rodger of Strongsville, OH and Shirley Hively and her husband Fred of Jobplin, MO, one son James B. Templeton and his wfie Ashley of Sarasota, FL, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchlidren, three great-great-grandchildren, four nieces and many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his aprrents, one sister, Wanda Hammel, two brothers, Billie Templeton and Howard Templeton and one half-brother, Jack Storms. Elvin worked with the Civilian Conservation Corp during the great depression to help construct the dam which created the Lake Sugema in Keosauqua, IA. Elvin was employed at Sheller Globe in Keokuk for twenty-one years before his retirement in 1967 due to a disability. He was a member of the Sandusky Methodist Church in Sandusky, IA. Elvin liked to travel to visit family and loved to fish. He was an avid Nascar fan and enjoyed watching his two favorite television shows, Law and Order and NCIS. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 27th, 2013 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Reverend John Abraham officiating. Burial was in the Hickory Grove Cemetery in Keokuk. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Medical Transport of Lee County Ambulance or the Montrose Health Center.
