Elwin Adelbert Poole, youngest son of Arthur Clarence and Emma Rhetta Hooker Poole, was born Feb. 12,1917, at Courtland, Kan. His mother died when he was 19 months of age. He was raised by his father, Arthur, brothers, Russell and Chester, and his sister, Gladys Poole Van Meter. During his pre-school and school years, he lived in the homes of his family. He attended grade school at Laurel Hill, Falls City, Neb., and Lovewell, Kan., and graduated from Lovewell High school in 1935. Oct. 13, 1940, he was united in marriage to Bernice Lovewell Poole at Bennington, Kan. Several years he farmed and worked on construction. At the time of his retirement, he was a crane operator for B.R.B. Construction Company, Topeka. He lived his retirement years with his wife in their home in Superior. Survivors include his wife, Bernice; children, Mrs. Douglas Wilson (Janice Marie) of Buena Park, Calif., and Elwin Arthur "Skip" Poole of Corona, Calif.; five grandchildren, Dondrea Wilson of Calgary, Canada, Edward and Tim Wilson of Buena Park, Calif., Loraine Marie Poole Paris of Perris, Calif., and Jeffery Elwin Poole of Corona, Calif.; two great grandchildren, Joshua Wilson of Reno, Nev., and Justin Paris of Perris, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Gladys Poole Van Meter; and brothers Chester and Russell Poole.
