Brittingham, widely known and highly respected taxicab operator, died at his home on Columbia Avenue suddenly of a heart attack early Friday morning of last week. He was 55 years of age. Brittingham, widely known and highly respected taxicab operator, died at his home on Columbia Avenue suddenly of a heart attack early Friday morning of last week. He was 55 years of age. A native of Cokesbury, he was the son of Noah and Sarah Henderson Brittingham, and the husband of Mrs. Lena Layfield Brittingham. Mr. Brittingham was one of those hustling, courteous men who would go out of his way to please his customers, and because of his friendliness and good business practices had built up a profitable operation in Crisfield. He had a wide circle of friends in all walks of life who liked and admired him, and to whom news of his sudden passing came as a great shock. He was a fine citizen in every respect, who will be greatly missed. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Walter Donoway, pastor of Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church, assisted by the Rev. J. Howard Link, pastor of Immanuel Methodist Church. Burial was in Sunnyridge Memorial Park. Bearers were Vaughn Mason, Benny Ward, Jerry McCready, Henry Clayton, George (Gimp)Carrington and Gorman Moore. Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Lena Layfield Brittingham; two sons, William L. Brittingham of Crisfield and Maurice Brittingham of Washington, D. C.; three daughters, Mrs. James (Betty) Landon, Mrs. George D.(Cassie) Evans and Miss Carolyn Brittington, all of Crisfield; three sisters, Mrs. Elmer Amos, Mrs. Everett Brittingham and Mrs. Neal Widdowson, all of Princess Anne; eight brothers, Paul, Francis, Albert and Walter Brittingham of Westover; Andrew Brittingham of Philadelphia; Hartley Brittingham of Salisbury, Wallace Brittingham of Delmar, and Robert Brittingham of Westover; and three grandchildren.
