Description	:	Elzyette Knott, daughter of Mary Elizabeth (née Harris) and—posthumously—Elza H. "Elzy" Knott, was born in 1859 in Genoa, in what was then Utah Territory. Said to be the first white child born in Genoa, she was also reported to have been evacuated with her mother over mountains by horseback to Strawberry, California, during an 1860 Indian uprising, and to have returned in a stage coach. Read More	Elzyette Knott, daughter of Mary Elizabeth (née Harris) and—posthumously—Elza H. "Elzy" Knott, was born in 1859 in Genoa, in what was then Utah Territory. Elzyette Knott and George William Selby were married reportedly on 15 January 1881 in Genoa. The couple were the parents of five children. (The four children that lived to maturity were born in Genoa.) In the 1900 U.S. Census, Elzyette Selby (marked as married) and her children were living in her mother's household in Genoa; George William Selby (marked as single) was living apart from his family in California. The couple later divorced, and George William Selby remarried in 1905. Elzyette Selby remained in Genoa, where she was a charter member of the Rebekah lodge, and died in her home there in 1944. Notes "[...] Mrs Elzyett Knott Selby [...] was born on October 12, 1859, in Genoa where her father, Elzy Knott, and her uncle [sic ], Thomas Knott, built the first flour and lumber mill in Nevada for Colonel Reese. She has resided in Genoa all of her life with the exception of three years spent in Sierraville, more than half a century ago. "She was married in 1881 to Mr Selby and they had one son and four daughters. Today she is proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren."
