Description	:	Mary Elizabeth Harris was born in Wales and immigrated to the United States in 1854. She married Elza H. "Elzy" Knott about August 1858, probably in Utah Territory, but she was widowed just about 7 months later when Elzy was killed in March 1859 an argument arising from a card game wager. The couple's daughter Elzyette was born in October 1859. Mary married John T. Williams, a farmer, in late 1859 or 1860, and the couple, with her infant daughter, were enumerated in October 1860 in Carson County—then in Utah Territory—today in Nevada. The couple became the parents of eight children (four of them living in 1900). John T. Williams was a Douglas County, Nevada, entryman. He received on 10 December 1864 the patent for 160 acres of Federal land. The family was enumerated in 1870 and 1875 in Douglas County. In the 1880 U.S. Census of that county, Mary Williams was the head of household, but indicated to be married. Mary Williams, age 68, a native of South Wales, was buried on 6 September 1908, according to a Douglas County burial certificate.
