He was born in Howard County, Indiana on December 16, 1921 the son of Milo and Savilla (Hochstedler) Bontrager. Emanuel married Zona Mae Horner on June 9, 1945 and she preceded him in death on February 24, 2008. He was born in Howard County, Indiana on December 16, 1921 the son of Milo and Savilla (Hochstedler) Bontrager. Emanuel married Zona Mae Horner on June 9, 1945 and she preceded him in death on February 24, 2008. Emanuel was a charter member of the Parkview Mennonite Church and a retired Howard County farmer and truck driver. Family above all else, was the most important thing in his life. Emanuel was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by daughter Roxanna (Karl) Sommers, granddaughter Hannah Sommers (Anthony Yoder) and great-grandchildren Noah and Zona; granddaughter Kathryn Sommers (Kevin Chorazak), great-grandchildren Reuben and Rosemary, and grandson-in-law Chad Steenerson; daughter Evidene (Arden) Graber, granddaughter Donna (Ted) Yoder and great-grandchildren Leaha (Anthony) Conrad, Wesley, Lindy, Seth, Lyssa, Lyra and Jesse; grandson Devin Graber; granddaughter Myra (Nathan) Ulmer and great-grandchildren Ethan, Micah, Jacob, and Lainey; grandsons Brice Graber and Aaron Graber; his son Timothy (Sue) Bontrager, granddaughter Kristina (Josiah) Johnson and great-grandchildren Cataleya Rose, Kellan Allen, Ryver Salem, Zona Raven, and Landen David. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Zona Mae, granddaughter Laura Steenerson, great-granddaughter Mandi Joy Ulmer, and brother and sister in law William (Pete) Miriam Bontrager. A private funeral service will be held Thursday at the church with Pastor Lee Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Hensler-Mast Cemetery. Source: Eddy Funeral Home
