Description	:	Emanuel Willard Glanzer was born on October 17, 1933 to Jacob H. and Lavina (Wollman) Glanzer on a farm south of Bridgewater, South Dakota. He was the second of six children. Read More	Emanuel Willard Glanzer was born on October 17, 1933 to Jacob H. and Lavina (Wollman) Glanzer on a farm south of Bridgewater, South Dakota. He was the second of six children. Upon his profession of faith, Emanuel was baptized on June 22, 1947 by Rev. David W. Tschetter and became a life-long member of the Salem K.M.B. Church. Dad graduated from Bridgewater High School in 1951, and attended Augustana College for two years. In June of 1953, he begin a two-year assignment in 1-W Service at Lincoln General Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska. On June 20, 1954, Emanuel Willard Glanzer and Mary Magdalene Hofer were joined in holy matrimony at Pioneer Hall, Freeman, South Dakota. They lived in Lincoln, Nebraska for one year and then moved to a farm south of Bridgewater for one year. In 1957, they moved to the family farm, where he spent the rest of his farming years. Dad and Mom had the privilege to celebrate 65 years of marriage. A few days ago Tim, Brooke and Ashley were with Dad and the granddaughters asked him what the secret was to 65 years of marriage. Dad replied "work together and be kind." He demonstrated his advice all his life by ALWAYS helping Mom wash the dinner dishes. Dad and Mom were blessed with three children: Susan Kay, Timothy James and Thomas Lee. Dad was a wonderful provider for his family. He loved farming and raising a variety of livestock. It was very special to dad that he had the opportunity to farm with his "boys", teaching them everything that he possibly could. In the past two years of living at the nursing home, he was always asking Mom, "what are the boys doing today?" Church was a very important part of Dad's life. He served in many capacities over his lifetime. He sang in the church choir and quartets, and he was director of music for many years. He served on the Board of Trustees for 55-plus years. One of his greatest joys was being chairman of the trustees when the new church building was built in 1966. He also served as moderator, deacon, and our family served as church custodians for many years. Music was another big part of Dad's life. It was very important to him that his children took piano lessons and instrumental lessons. He sat countless hours beside us as we practiced our lessons. He also served for eight years on the Cenex Board of Directors. He spent many years working for the ASCS office as grain tester and climbed countless grain bins. He thoroughly enjoyed this job and getting to know the area farmers better. Dad's greatest joy was to watch his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in sports, music, drama, and other activities. He rarely missed an event. He enjoyed the fellowship of family meals until the end. On November 8, 2017 Dad transitioned to the Oakview Terrace Nursing Home. He told us many times, "No this isn't the place I want to live, but if I need to, it is a good place to be." He was taken care of lovingly and faithfully by the wonderful staff. He really enjoyed that his granddaughter Jaimie Jo was a CNA at the nursing home and helped to take care of him. Over the past two years, we have spent many hours as a family in his room. The frequent visits from Haley, Holly, Shelby and Ellie always put a smile on his face. Faithfully, Mom and Tom went to see him every day. Our family holds the nursing home record for most people (22) in his room at one time. In Dad's 86 years, he lived a life filled with Christ's love and grace, which he poured out to family, friends, and any soul he met along the way. His kind wisdom, gentle spirit and witty conversation captivated and drew people close. He loved the Lord and we are grateful for the assurance that on October 30, 2019, surrounded by his family, he made his journey to be with his Savior Jesus Christ. Dad was preceded in death and welcomed in heaven by his parents, Jacob H. and Lavina Glanzer; his brothers, Johnny Glanzer and James Glanzer; his parents-in-law, Michael K. and Anna Hofer; his great-grandson, Darren Lee Glanzer, his brothers-in-law, Michael D. Hofer and Amos J. Kleinsasser; and his nephew, Michael B. Kleinsasser. Dad is survived by his wife, Mary M. Glanzer; daughter, Susan and husband, Steve Hopkins; son Tim Glanzer and wife, Chauntel; son Tom Glanzer; grandson, Christopher Glanzer and wife, Kathryn; great-granddaughter, Anna Glanzer and friend, Lewis Furmenger and great-grandson, Paul Glanzer; grandson, Michael Becker and wife, Aleacia; his great-grandchildren, Holly, Shelby, Ellie, and Blake Becker; granddaughter, Brooklyn Glanzer and fiancé, Shayne Becker; granddaughter, Haley Glanzer and friend, Nicholas Lentz; granddaughter, Ashley and husband, Jerret Weber; and granddaughter, Jaimie Glanzer and friend, Tristan Pierce; his sister, Lois and husband, Sam Hofer; his sister, Lucille G. Hofer; his brother, Donald Glanzer and wife, Letha; his sisters-in-law, Donna Glanzer and Kathryn Kleinsasser; and many cousins, nephews, and nieces.
