Obituary-Devil's Lake Daily Journal, Devil's Lake, North Dakota, January 3, 1933: Mrs. Fred Zessin Succumbs to Stroke Mrs. Fred Zessin, resident of the Lake Region since 1906, succumbed at a local hospital yesterday following a brief illness caused by a stroke. She was born in Mwene, Wis., August 28, 1865 and later moved to Nebraska in 1890. On December 3, 1891 she was married to her husband who survives her. In 1906 the couple came to North Dakota and settled on a farm near Southam for four years when they moved in Devils Lake. Besides her husband she is survived by four children and twelve grandchildren. The children are Mrs. Della DeBoer, Mrs. Hattie Smalley and Mrs. Helen Vivrick and a son Andrew another son died in infancy. A sister in Wisconsin and a brother in Utah also survive. Funeral services will be held from the Methodist church here Thursday afternoon at Two o'clock. The Rev. F. I. Greene in charge of the services. Interment will be made in the G. A. R. Cemetery.
