Read More	Obituary provided by Jeanette Beethe Kozisek Heins (#48538250): Mrs. Emeline From, resident of Butler County and David City for 60 years, passed away at her home in David City at 1:45 a. m. Saturday, September 5, at the age of nearly 82 years. She had been in failing health for the last 13 years. Her death was from apoplexy, with which she was stricken several days prior to her passing. Funeral services were held at the home at 2:00 o'clock Monday afternoon, September 7, conducted by Rev. J.D. M. Buckner, of Lincoln, a former pastor of St. Luke's M.E. church of David City, of which Mrs. From was a member. Two hymns, "Jesus Lover of my Soul" and "In the Sweet Bye and Bye," were sung by Mrs. E. G. Hall and Mrs. Loran Jordan, with Miss Ida Howie accompanist. Six of Mrs. From's grandsons acted as pallbearers. Burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery, near Millerton. Relatives in attendance at the funeral from elsewhere were Mr. and Mrs. France Wagner of Fremont and Mrs. Rose Shelley and son and daughter from Iowa. Emeline Pifer was Mrs. From's maiden name. She was born in Dauphin county, Pennsylvania, November 20, 1849, a daughter of John and Polly Pifer. She was united in marriage to James From at Marshalltown, Iowa, on April 21, 1867. Mr. and Mrs. From came to Nebraska and Butler County in 1871 and resided on a farm seven miles west of David City until the spring of 1909, when they moved to David City. Mr. From died on March 18, 1912. Mrs. From was the mother of nine children, two daughters and seven sons. One son, William, has passed on. The surviving children are Mrs. Mary Lichliter and Edd, John and Harve From of David City, Mrs. Myrtle Barlean and France From of Rising City, Uriah From of Vanango and James From of Harrison. Mrs. From also leaves three brothers and three sisters.
