Description	:	EMER B. HARRIS DIED SATURDAY Emer B. Harris, 84, a long-time resident of Montgomery county, died Saturday evening, April 27, at the University hospital in Iowa City. His health had failed rapidly for the past six months and death resulted from complications due to old age. Upon advise of his physican he was taken to Iowa City, April 23, for treatment. Funeral services will be held at the Baptist church in Red Oak, Tuesday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by the Rev. J. Fredric Catlin, pastor. Serving as pallbearers will be: S.W. Ivers, Will Lohr, J.N. McGreer, T.J. Birbeck, I.M. Shaffer and Zearl Harding. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery southwest of Red Oak. Emer B. Harris was born near Brandon, Knox, Ohio, Janurauy 13, 1851, the son of Emer B. and Polly Ann Harris. In 1875 he came to Red Oak with his parents amd settled on a farm in West Township. In 1906 he retired from the farm amd came to Red Oak to make his home and where he has lived alone, except the last few months which were spent with his children in West Township. He was married March1, 1877 in Know county, Ohio to Laura L. Mitchell who preceded him in death March 15, 1892. They were the parents of four children all of whom survive. Ther are: Mitchell B Harris, Mrs. Anna M Giles and Mrs. Stella N McGreer, all of Red Oak and E Raymond Harris of Pery, Ill. He also leaves eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. One brother Ethan A Harriws of Los Angeles., Calif also survives. Mr Harris was a life-long mermber of the Baptist church and was a faithful attendant as long as he was able to get about.
