Description	:	Emil B. Read, 82, a resident of 818 South 16th, Centerville died Thursday, Feb. 19 at the St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital in Centerville. Born July 27, 1898 in Allerton, he was the son of William M. and Lillian Booth Read. He was married to Myrtle Stark in Des Moines on May 28, 1921 and she survives. He was retired after serving 41 years with the U.S. Postal Department. He was a member of the KAABA Shrine Club and B.P.O. Elks, 940. Read, 82, a resident of 818 South 16th, Centerville died Thursday, Feb. 19 at the St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital in Centerville. Born July 27, 1898 in Allerton, he was the son of William M. and Lillian Booth Read. He was married to Myrtle Stark in Des Moines on May 28, 1921 and she survives. He was retired after serving 41 years with the U.S. Postal Department. He was a member of the KAABA Shrine Club and B.P.O. Elks, 940. He had been a very active member of the Masonic Lodge, having served as Past Master and in many other offices. He was a veteran of World War I and a charter member of the American Legion. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Marlys Cook, Des Moines; Patricia Brunsberg, Minneapolis, Min. and Emily Stuart, Centerville and seven grandchildren. The body will be cremated and a memorial service will be held Sunday, Feb. 22 at the Johnson Funeral Home in Centerville with the Rev. Mark Whipple and H.H. Hines officiating.
