Description	:	Emil L. Pischel was born in Bohemia, July 27, 1860. He emigrated to America with his parents in the spring of 1870, where they took up a homestead in Knox County, Nebraska. He endured all the hardships of the early settlers, progressing and helping build up his locality. He was united in marriage to Teresia Diez, October 15, 1884, to which union 12 children were born. Two preceding him in death, Anton in 1932 and a son in infancy. Pischel was born in Bohemia, July 27, 1860. He emigrated to America with his parents in the spring of 1870, where they took up a homestead in Knox County, Nebraska. He endured all the hardships of the early settlers, progressing and helping build up his locality. He was united in marriage to Teresia Diez, October 15, 1884, to which union 12 children were born. Two preceding him in death, Anton in 1932 and a son in infancy. After his parents moved to California in 1880, he continued to conduct the store, Pischelville Post Office and the farm established by his parents. In 1886, he was elected County Supervisor from his district. After serving as Deputy County Treasurer, he was elected as County Treasurer in 1889, serving one term. Declining to run again, he retired from public life looking after the interests of his farm and business until 1924, when he retired, turning his farm interests over to his son. For many years he was an active member of the Masonic and ZCBJ Lodges. His wife preceded his death, May 24, 1927. Since then, his youngest daughter, Helen, gave all her attention to making a comfortable home for him until his death. He leaves to mourn, five sons, Otto of Walnut, Walter of Center, Arthur of Verdel, Frank of Norfolk, William on the homestead; five daughters, Mrs. A.J. Barta of Buffalo Gap, So. Dak., Mrs. S.W. Berge of North Platte, Mrs. L.J. Markitan of Fairburn, So. Dak., Mrs. Chris B. Alexander of Center and Helen at home.
