Description	:	Emil Marcus Peters was born March 23, 1894 in Otter Creek Township, Crawford County. He was one of eight children born to Mr. and Mrs. Claus J. Peters. He died October 8 at the court house in Denison. Mr. Peters attend school in the public schools at Schleswig. He married Ethel May Kellogg on November 2, 1927. One son, Wayne, was born to this union. Read More	Emil Marcus Peters was born March 23, 1894 in Otter Creek Township, Crawford County. He was one of eight children born to Mr. and Mrs. Claus J. Peters. He died October 8 at the court house in Denison. Mr. Peters attend school in the public schools at Schleswig. He married Ethel May Kellogg on November 2, 1927. One son, Wayne, was born to this union. He served as postmaster in Schleswig, and later was employed by the Farmers State Bank there. He served as deputy county auditor from 1929 to 1930. For two years he and his brother operated the Peter's Drug store in Schleswig. He was elected Clerk of the District Court in November of 1932 and served in that office from January 1933 until the time of his death. Mr. Peters was a former president of the Iowa Clerk's Association and a past president of the Denison Kiwanis club. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Sioux City, Sylvan Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, of which he was Worthy Patron, member of the Carroll International Oder of Odd Fellows Lodge, of the Denison Chamber of Commerce and of the First United Methodist church of Denison. Survivors include his wife, Ethel, a son, Dr. Wayne E. Peters of Middlebury, Vermont, four grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Ella Schroeder of Ida Grove and Mrs. Minnie Kolls of Bridgewater, South Dakota. Services were held Friday, October 11 at 10:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jerold L. Irvin officiating. Honorary bearers, Crawford County Bar Association, Crawford County Board of Supervisors, Crawford County officials. Pall bearers were Clifford Foltz, Edmond Hamann, Palmer Peters, Donald Kroeger, Lawrence Hollander, and Hans Wagner. Interment was in Morgan Township cemetery in Schleswig.
