Description	:	Ella Margaret Schroeder was born October 6, 1889, in Otto Creek Township, Crawford County, Iowa, the daughter of Claus and Emma (Schroeder) Peters. She graduated with the third graduating class of Schleswig High School in 1906. As a young woman she worked for Dr. Schultz and also as a telephone operator in Schleswig. She married Herman C. F. Schroeder on January 3, 1912. Ella was a hard working, faithful and loving wife and mother. Helping her husband in his store making metwurst and bologna for which they were well known for. She graduated with the third graduating class of Schleswig High School in 1906. As a young woman she worked for Dr. Schultz and also as a telephone operator in Schleswig. She married Herman C. F. Schroeder on January 3, 1912. Ella was a hard working, faithful and loving wife and mother. Helping her husband in his store making metwurst and bologna for which they were well known for. Mr. Schroeder died on April 6, 1948. She continued in the work field. Working at Wolfs Department Store and later at Marie's Dress Shop both in Ida Grove, retiring at the age of 91. In September of 1986 Ella entered the Morningside Care Center in Ida Grove where she was lovingly cared for over six and a half years. She died at the age of 103, Friday, May 28, 1993, at the care center. Her family includes two daughters, Lenore and her husband, Edmund Hamann, and Garnet Potter, 2 grandsons and their wives, Dennis and Trudie Potter and Gary and Barbara Potter; 5 great-grandchildren, Jessica, Jackie, Jennifer, Jon, and Greg Potter, and 1 great-great-grandson, Andy Potter. Ella was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 sisters, 4 brothers, 3 half brothers, and a son-in-law. Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 1, 1993 at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig, Iowa. Rev. Richard Hempenius officiated the service and grave side rites held at the Morgan Township Cemetery in Schleswig, Iowa.
