Description	:	At her home in Bloomington twp., at 8 o'clock on Monday evening, January 12, 1920, there passed away from earth the spirit of Mrs. Emily A. Bassett, wife of Nathan E. Bassett. Her age was sixty-eight years and four days. She was born in Howard county, Iowa, on January 8, 1852. Mr. and Mrs. Bassett were married on February 26, 1874. Bassett. Her age was sixty-eight years and four days. She was born in Howard county, Iowa, on January 8, 1852. Mr. and Mrs. Bassett were married on February 26, 1874. Ten children were born to them and nine of these survive their mother, three sons and six daughters. They are May A. Godfrey, Edna A. Ford, Ulysses T. Bassett, Ann M. Bassett, and Paul M. Bassett, all living in or near Lamoni, the last two at home with their father, and Clara M. Godfrey, Ella S. Shepherd, Effie A. Godfrey, and Arthur M. Bassett in Nebraska. Seven of the nine were present during their mother's last illness and in attendance at her funeral. Mrs. Bassett was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ, baptized March 31, 1902, in McPherson county, Nebraska by Elder S. D. Payne. She lived a Christian life. She suffered a great deal during the last three weeks, gall stones and heart derangement being the chief troubles. She endured with patience and resignation. Funeral services were held at the residence on January 15th, conducted by H. A. Stebbins. The burial was at Rose Hill cemetery, Lamoni, with prayer by R. A. Ballantyne.
