Description	:	Emily L. Tilghman Emily L. Tilghman, 92, of Crisfield died Wednesday May 31, 2000, at the Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield. She was born in the Daugherty Town section of Crisfield Oct. 10, 1907 a daughter of the late Alfred J. and Alida Ward Lawson. She attended the former Towson State Normal School in Baltimore and later received her bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Maryland in College Park. Tilghman Emily L. Tilghman, 92, of Crisfield died Wednesday May 31, 2000, at the Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield. She was born in the Daugherty Town section of Crisfield Oct. 10, 1907 a daughter of the late Alfred J. and Alida Ward Lawson. She attended the former Towson State Normal School in Baltimore and later received her bachelor's and master's degree from the University of Maryland in College Park. She taught elementary school first in Prince George's County, then later in Somerset County for 35 years. Following her retirement in 1973 she taught adult Biblical literature for several years. In Crisfield she was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church and the Chesapeake Chapter 28 Order of Eastern Star and a volunteer for McCready Memorial Hospital and the Tawes Nursing Home. She was a member of the Mary land Retired Teachers Association. She is survived by a daughter, Anne B. Muller and a granddaughter, Julia D. Berch, both of Baltimore, and several nieces and nephews. Her husband, Simmons P. "Sim" Tilghman, died in 1977. A brother, Alfred J. "Tut" Lawson, Jr., and a sister, Vivian McCready, are both deceased. Graveside services and interment were held Saturday in Sunnyridge Memorial Park, near Crisfield. The Rev. Jim Riley officiated.
