Mrs. Peterson had been in failing health for the past several months. Mrs. Peterson was well and favorably known in Harlan county, having made her home for many years on a farm east of Huntley, later residing in Alma with her family for many years. The deceased is survived by seven children. Her husband, S. Peterson having preceded her in death on November 12, 1928. At the time the Journal goes to press funeral arrangements had not been completed, awaiting word from relatives who reside at distant points. Anderson-Stierin Mortuary of Orleans, has charge of the arrangements. ______________________ Harlan County Journal; 24 Feb 1949; Page 1: OBITUARY Emily Frances Peterson Emily Frances Marshal was born January 8, 1867 at Valpariaso, Nebr., and departed from this life on February 14, 1949, at Orleans, Nebr., having attained the age of 82 years, 1 month and 6 days. On October 21, 1886, she was united in marriage to Sven P. Peterson at Lincoln, Nebr. To this union was born two daughters and eight sons, of which one daughter and five sons are living, Mrs. Jane Mitchell of - Rawlins, Wyo., Ray of Casper, Wyo., Sam of Split Rock, Wyo., Ben of Funk, Nebr., Harlan A and Louis M., both of Selah, Wash. Her husband, one daughter and three sons preceded her in death. In 1903 the family moved to their farm home two miles east of Huntley. The last few years of her life were spent in Orleans, where she made a host of friends and was loved by all who knew her. Her life was devoted to the purpose of making friends with all she came in contact with and in raising her family in the very best way she knew. She will be missed greatly by her children, who she loved so very much, her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her many, many friends. Besides her sons and daughter, she leaves to mourn her passing three brothers, H. B. and Sam Marshall, both of Alma, Nebr., and Geo. Marshall of Valparaiso, also twenty-nine grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. She was a member of the Methodist church at Huntley until the time of her departure from this life. She enjoyed a real, practical Christian faith in the Lord Jesus Christ which was known to all her friends. She also was a member of the Eastern Star of Alma. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Orleans on February 18, with the pastor, Joe Simpson in charge. Interment was made in the Bainbridge cemetery near Huntley. Arrangements were in charge of Anderson-Stieren Mortuary.
