Read More	Harlan County Journal; 23 Nov 1928; Page 1: SVEN PETERSON GOES TO REWARD Sven Peterson was born in Sweden, April 21, 1862, and died at his home near Huntley, Nebr., November 12, 1928, having reached the ripe old age of 66 years, 6 months and 21 days. He came to America with his parents when seven years old and first lived in Indiana. His parents then moved to Nebraska and settled in Lancaster county near Valparaiso. Twenty-four years ago he came to Harlan county and settled on a farm two miles east of Huntley where he has since resided, except for five years spent in Alma. He was united in bonds of holy matrimony to Miss Emily Marshall, 42 years ago at Lincoln, Nebr., and to this union were born eight sons and two daughters. Two sons preceeded [sic] him in death. Mr. Peterson gave himself to God by confirmation in the Lutheran at the age of 14 years. Later he united with the M. E. church at Huntley and remained true to that church until the Lord called him to membership in the Church Triumphant. He was a member of Huntley lodge No. 270, A. F. & A. M., and a member of the Royal Arch Mason Lodge No. 59, of Alma, Nebr. He was also a member of the Eastern Star. He leaves to mourn his loss his devoted and faithful wife, six sons and two daughters: Ray, of Frederick, Colo.; Harley, of Ragan; Sam and Wilmer, of Elm Creek, Nebr.; Mrs. Janie Ransdell, of Holdrege, Nebr.; Louis and Ben and Mrs. Ellen Mennenger, of Huntley, Nebr.; one sister, Mrs. Anna Sturdevant of Yutan, Nebr.; seventeen grandchildren and a number of other relatives and a host of friends. The funeral services were held in the Bainbridge church conducted by the Rev. J. M. Runcie of Cozad, an old friend of the family. The sermon took in the whole life of man and was hopeful and cheerful in its outlook upon death. The services at the grave were in charge of the Masons, the impressive buril [sic] service being conducted by Chas. Gourley, of Orleans. ___________________ Harlan County Journal; 16 Nov 1928; Back Page: Monday morning, Will Mennengau was going to haul a load of alfalfa to Wilcox and went out to load it. S. P. Peterson would go along, altho [sic] Will urged him not to do so. Will was putting the hay on the rack and Mr. Peterson was loading it when he said, "You'll have to get me out of this," and fell down, dying almost immediately. A doctor was sent for, but, of course, nothing could be done. S. P. had rented his farm to Mr. Mennengau and had planned on doing a little traveling next summer, we are told.
