CURTIS Emma A. Whistler, daughter of William and Elizabeth Whistler, was born in Boone county, Mo., Nov. 15, 1867, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Morris Vanderbur, Feb. 27, 1931, aged 64 years, 3 months and 12 days. She came from Boone county, Mo. to Warren county, Iowa with her parents when a year old and has lived in Warren and Lucas counties the remainder of her life. She was united in marriage to Charles L. Curtis April 7, 1897. To this union one daughter, Lizzie was born, who has been a comfort to her mother and who tenderly cared for her in her last illness. After her marriage they lived on a farm in Lucas county until the death of her husband, which occurred Jan. 26, 1903. The following March she and her daughter moved to Lacona. She is survived by her aged mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Whistler, daughter Lizzie Vanderbur of Lacona, and one brother, James Whistler of Ft. Collins, Colo., and several nieces and nephews. Her father, one sister and one brother preceded her in death. She was converted in young womanhood and for several years was a member of the Arnold U. B. church. After moving to Lacona she transferred her membership to the Methodist church. The funeral was held Sunday, March 1, at the M. E. church, conducted by Elder Robinson, assisted by the Rev. O. L. Jones. A quartet composed of Elder Robinson, Darrel Parkins, Mrs. Roy Swanson and Mrs. S. A. Ralston, sang beautifully. The body was laid to rest at the Fletcher cemetery.
